During the celebration of the 25th anniversary of ATOX Storage Systems, attendees were able to see the evolution of ATOX metal shelving. We recall a first stage, from 1957 to 1991, which is part of our history, to then focus on the stage from 1991, when Grupo ATOX acquired Manufacturas Sanluce and a new phase began characterized by the commitment to innovation, expansion international and the incorporation of new technologies. It is this second stage with which we celebrate our 25th anniversary. During this last quarter of a century, the commitment to innovation has translated into the ability to tackle increasingly complex and larger-scale projects: department stores for conventional pallet racking, clad-rack warehouses high-bay with stacker cranes, elevated walkways multi-tiered etc. With the integration of new technologies in our metal racking, we have expanded our catalog of storage systems with the automation systems of ATOX Soluciones Tecnológicas. But innovation has not only been reflected in the metal racking systems manufactured by ATOX. It has also resulted in innovation in production processes.
Between the 1960s and the late 1980s, machines were used in which a considerable part of the process was still done manually. Over time, we have incorporated automation into the racking manufacturing process, taking a great leap forward in productivity and safety.
As part of the celebration of the 25th anniversary of ATOX Storage Systems, guided tours were offered to our factory of metal racks in Gijón.
Profiling, one of the key processes in the manufacture of metal racks, has evolved remarkably over the last 25 years. It is a constantly evolving process within ATOX, highly automated and feeding on increasingly larger steel straps. The productivity of ATOX Storage Systems is largely based on this phase of manufacturing. Our technical team maintains a philosophy of continuous improvement and the flexibility of our manufacturing process allows us to design and manufacture metal racks tailored to the needs of each warehouse. This adaptability is one of the keys to ATOX’s success at an international level.
The process of designing and manufacturing metal shelving is actually a much more complex process than it may seem at first glance. The diversity of racking systems that ATOX manufactures and its adaptation service to the needs of each client requires that all our professionals work in coordination, from the design and calculation of the metallic structures to the profiling of beams and frames, the design of connectors or the automated painting process.
ATOX Storage Systems maintains a philosophy of continuous innovation. And this has led us to continuously optimize our production processes, to the point of improving many of the machines we use in our manufacturing plant ourselves.
ATOX has ISO quality and environmental certifications and our commitment to business excellence leads us to raise our products to the highest levels of quality, being pioneers and benchmarks in the storage sector internationally.
In the first part of this article we talked about the most personal facet of the 25th anniversary of ATOX Storage Systems. During this second part, we have introduced you a little more to our manufacturing plant. In the third part we will talk about internationalization and warehouse automation as keys to our business success.
