Metal shelving plays a fundamental role in the different stages of the supply chain. ATOX Storage Systems has been committed to quality for more than 50 years, designing and manufacturing shelving and storage systems adapted to each client. Within its commitment to excellence, corporate social responsibility and sustainable development, ATOX collaborates with the training of future professionals.
On this occasion, ATOX opened the doors of the facilities of its metal shelving factory in Gijón to the students of the First Cycle of the Metal Construction Module of the Labor University.
ATOX as an international manufacturer of metal shelving
During the first part of the visit, the students attended the presentation of ATOX Storage Systems as a company, with more than 50 years of experience and a consolidated international presence in Europe and Latin America. They were able to see first-hand the wide catalog of products that ATOX designs and manufactures, with a wide variety of types of metal racks and storage systems for all types of warehouses.
For the storage of heavy loads, ATOX offers systems for high-density warehouses, such as clad-rack warehouses with stacker cranes and a wide variety of pallet racking. In addition to conventional pallet racking, ATOX designs and manufactures compact racking or drive-in racking, live racking and push-back racking.
ATOX designs and manufactures storage systems that allow storage space to be expanded, such as industrial mezzanines or metal mezzanines and elevated walkways, as well as shelving for special loads, such as cantilever racks, reel holders, etc.
But warehouses also have to handle medium loads and light loads, which is why shelving for picking and live picking shelving are of great importance, as well as light-duty racking with bolts and light-duty shelving without bolts.
In the case of file storage, ATOX manufactures mobile shelves and Biblioestan shelves, which stand out both for their large storage capacity and for their careful aesthetics.
With such an extensive catalog of industrial racking systems and counting on high quality and excellence in service as differentiating factors, ATOX has been positioned for decades as a leading manufacturer of metal racks at an international level.
The production process in the manufacture of metal shelving
During the second part of the visit and given its importance in the training of future professionals in the sector, the students received explanations and were able to see first-hand the entire production process in the manufacture of metal racks. They were explained how production is planned and programmed; They were able to see the different machinery and industrial equipment used in operation, such as the rolling mill, the paint mill or the welding robots; They were shown the quality controls that are carried out and they were informed about safety measures at work.
It should be noted that in the factory facilities that ATOX Storage Systems has in Gijón, metal racking systems and automated systems are manufactured for both the entire Spanish territory and various countries in Europe and Latin America.
The future of metal shelving with ATOX Technological Solutions
The visit could not end without an important section dedicated to automation, which will mark the future of metal racking systems. The students were able to see the automated systems of ATOX Technological Solutions, designed to meet the high productivity demands imposed by modern supply chains and the rise of electronic commerce.
ATOX Soluciones Tecnológicas automatic systems make it possible to drastically speed up order preparation, as well as contribute to optimizing urban logistics and reverse logistics
The great versatility of the automatic systems designed and manufactured by ATOX allows turning warehouses into high-performance warehouses, achieving solid stock control, improving traceability, facilitating business models based on long tail and helping to mitigate the whip effect in the supply chain.
The Radio Shuttle Sherpa 800 system turns drive-in racking into high-density storage systems, while improving productivity and safety in forklift operations.
ATOX’s light-guided system for pick-to-light and put-to-light operations in coordination with smart roller conveyors introduces a revolution in the picking order preparation workflow. Several warehouse operators can collaborate on the preparation of the same order without leaving their post, while inventory errors are drastically reduced.
DISBAN H automatic dispensing is a very high-speed automatic order preparation system, with great success in pharmacy and parapharmacy logistics. Due to its great flexibility, this automation system is also being applied in other sectors, such as cosmetic distribution centers, spare parts warehouses, etc. Disban H dispensers also work in coordination with the roller transport system.
In summary, this initiative to open the doors of ATOX Storage Systems to show how it works to students, who will become future professionals in the metal sector, will contribute to their approach to the real needs of companies, their awareness of security concepts in work and their motivation in their dedication to any of the different professional opportunities that are developed within this sector.
