In the first part In this article we told you how ATOX and DUPRÈE had signed a collaboration project for DUPRÈE’s expansion projects, the important role that its warehouses in Peru played and the importance of trusting in metal racks and automation systems of ATOX. In this second part, we tell you about the concrete advantages that DUPRÈE warehouses will achieve with this.
This ambitious expansion project for DUPRÈE, a benchmark in the sector, is led by the Logistics Manager Mr. Moisés Santiago, an Industrial Engineer with extensive experience and professional career.
ATOX collaborates closely with the client providing integral solutions that adjust, as in the case of DUPRÈE, to the specific requirements of each project. Also providing the best service, which includes the engineering project, advice, training and after-sales assistance.
It was a long road until DUPRÈE’s decision was made, since it entails, in addition to the economic investment, an important change in the company’s work operations.
ATOX light guided as a revolution in pick-to-light
The logistics solution that ATOX proposes, to increase the performance of picking operations in the new DUPRÈE warehouse in Peru, consists of the use of light-guided technology for pick-to-light operations.
This automation system is designed to be modular and require practically no maintenance. Being fully integrated into the metal shelving for picking, it is highly robust and ergonomic. It is based on some luminous devices so that the operators know at all times where to go and what picking operation to carry out in each location.
Advantages of light-guided technology with pick-to-light operations
The implementation of the ATOX light-guided system for pick-to-light operations provides the warehouse with the following advantages:
Increased picking productivity
With the light-guided system, lines can be doubled and even tripled per minute per operator. Light guidance is one of the fastest and most competitive methods by freeing the operator from the high level of concentration that other picking systems require. Light guidance takes advantage of the instinctive visual reflex, drastically minimizing picking time through pick-to-light operations.
Elimination of picking errors
Guided by light, due to the instinctive reflex of the human being, makes it difficult to get confused between two similar products located in adjacent positions. The pick-to-light functionality of the ATOX light-guided system provides a constant visualization of the quantity of units to be picked, facilitating the operator’s work and avoiding confusion, such as those produced when reading a delivery note crowded with order lines.
Constant stock control in real time
Thanks to the validations and corrections that the operators make from each of the light-guided system devices during pick-to-light operations, it is much easier, constant and dynamic to keep stock under control. In fact, these devices could become an inventory tool at any given time. Through ATOX light guidance, during pick-to-light operations, the operator not only validates an operation but also indicates to the system a possible stock-out in real time, modifying the quantity of products found in the location.
Pick-to-light at the DUPRÈE warehouse in Peru
At DUPRÈE, picking racks are installed with a light-guided system for pick-to-light operations, prepared so that up to four operators can work simultaneously in the same area of the warehouse.
The ATOX light-guided system, in addition to signaling to the operator the locations where the products to be picked are located and the number of units to be picked, also carries out intelligent guidance of the route. The system calculates the optimal merchandise collection route and guides the operator efficiently, using different light signals, both shelf signals for each merchandise and header signals to guide aisle entrances.
Smart roller conveyor systems
The installation in Peru for DUPRÈE also has an automated roller transport system from ATOX Soluciones Tecnológicas, based on self-propelled roller technology that uses Poly-V type belts to transmit movement from the driving roller to the rest of the slave rollers.
This self-propelled roller technology allows installation with virtually no wiring and the lowest noise level that can be achieved in roller movement.
Why DUPRÈE chooses ATOX
The award of this project to ATOX has not only been for presenting the best technical, quality and innovative solution, but also for drawing up a strategic implementation plan in the medium and long term both for the DUPRÈE stores in Lima and in the rest of countries in which it is present.
ATOX wants to highlight the collaboration and contributions made by the entire DUPRÈE team and, especially, to Mr. Moisés Santiago for the attention given during data collection, project assessment and implementation.
The close collaboration between both companies has been essential to become a benchmark for success.
