On October 20, the Official Chamber of Commerce of Spain in El Salvador, part of the network of official Spanish chambers of commerce abroad (CAMACOES), held the First Logistics Forum. An initiative with the aim of favoring relations between Salvadoran and Spanish companies, as well as promoting and boosting the logistics sector, one of the main engines of national and international economies. Within the framework of the event, several presentations and activities aimed at exchanging experiences and knowledge took place, organized by the CAMACOES Business Training Center, inaugurated on September 21.
As part of these activities, Mr. Blásquiz, president of ATOX Storage Systems, gave a conference on safety in metal racks and storage systems, highlighting the importance of good practices, prevention and compliance with regulations applicable to warehouses.
Storage safety on metal racks
In the presentation on security in storage systems, during this event in El Salvador, Mr. Blásquiz explained that “safety in a metal racking warehouse begins before its conception, at the moment in which the installation project begins to be designed”.
Aspects such as the applicable regulations were covered, the differences between “Security” and “Alarm” and the meanings and implications of such important concepts as “Safety“, “Risks“, “Accidents” and “Damages“, with special emphasis on the fundamental role played by “Prevention” to avoid both personal and economic damage.
Along with general safety concepts, more technical aspects directly related to metal racking were also discussed, such as the correct placement and distribution of loads, indications to avoid risky maneuvers with forklifts in pallet racking and the use of safety systems. specific protection, such as frame protectors, anti-fall nets, etc.
Finally, the importance of the quality of metal racks in warehouse facilities in seismic risk areas was also discussed.
ATOX Storage Systems has been designing and manufacturing high-quality metal shelving for more than 50 years. Its commitment to business excellence and customer service has made ATOX internationally recognized for the high reliability of its products.
As a result of ATOX’s commitment to innovation, the automation systems of ATOX Soluciones Tecnológicas are added to its extensive catalog of industrial racking and storage systems. In addition to allowing high-performance warehouses to be achieved, ATOX’s automated systems improve the ergonomics and safety of warehouse personnel.
Using the SHERPA 800 Radio Shuttle system, a highly efficient pallet shuttle system, high-density racking can reach greater storage depths, streamlining forklift operations while improving safety.
The light-guided system for pick-to-light and put-to-light operations is a semi-automated picking system that provides great ergonomics for warehouse operators while reducing inventory errors. For warehouses where high levels of work at very high speed are required, the automatic dispensing Disban H from ATOX allows automatic order preparation.
Both the light-guided system and the automatic dispensers can work in coordination with the roller transport. ATOX designed roller conveyors have smart, low noise and energy efficient motorized rollers. They also incorporate sensors and diverters fully integrated into the design, which allows them to act as sorters for the automatic classification of merchandise. Roller transport allows several warehouse operators to cooperate in the preparation of the same order without having to leave their post or warehouse area, thereby achieving high levels of performance and safety.
