Palletizing and standards: EPAL/EPAL euro pallets six months later

The palletizing industry had been pending during the year 2013 of the changes in the certifications of the euro pallets. In a previous article we told you how the European Pallet Association (EPAL) and the Union Internationales des Chemins de Fer (UIC) broke their collaboration agreement for the certification of UIC/EUR euro pallets and thus emerged, in August 2013, the Euro pallets EPAL/EPAL with the EPAL logo on all four corners.
After several unsuccessful meetings in 2013 between the UIC and EPAL to try to reach an agreement that would allow the free exchange of UIC/EUR and EPAL/EPAL pallets, a commitment was finally achieved on the part of both organizations, which has allowed that the logistics and palletizing sector continue to carry out its operations without the damages that the classification of pallets based on two different certifications would have entailed.
Finally, EPAL and UIC reached an agreement in December 2013, to officially ensure the international exchange of both UIC/EPAL and EPAL/EPAL pallets.
According to information published by EPAL, on February 1, 2014, 30 million EPAL/EPAL pallets were already manufactured. And the exchange of UIC/EUR and EPAL/EPAL pallets is taking place normally.
The EPAL standard for euro pallets emerged in 1991 with the aim of ensuring the quality of euro pallets. The certification of euro pallets also ensures their correct treatment for compliance with ISPM 15 Phytosanitary Measures, as well as the durability that contributes to the sustainability of the production of wood as a raw material.
But for pallet racking to be productive and sustainable, along with certified pallets, high-quality metal racks are necessary. ATOX Storage Systems, leader in the manufacture of metal racking, provides a wide range of industrial racking, both pallet racking and automated warehouses, as well as picking racks, mezzanines or mezzanines, cantilever racks, etc.
